The Ahearn Family welcomes you to this website, dedicated to the memory of our
recently departed husband, father and grandfather, John Littleton Ahearn.
We would love to read your remembrances of "Big John", and encourage
each of you to tell your favorite story or stories by using this site. You can
click here to open a page that gives
you the opportunity to add your own memories. You can reach that same input page
by clicking on Remembrances, above.
The Photographs link, above, has some of our family’s
favorite images of John, and we are happy to share them with you.
Much was said in recent days about Big John-in the Phoenix and Tucson newspapers,
by celebrants at his visitation and funeral, and by his eulogists. We as a family
are grateful to the reporters, priests and friends that crafted the moving tributes
that so nicely captured much of the essence of John.
For those of you who may not have seen the various newspaper columns dedicated to
the memory of John and would like to read them, here is a short list, in chronological order:
And, finally, the language to his actual obituary notice in the newspapers appears here.
We would especially like to thank Monsignors Ryle and O’Keefe for celebrating John’s funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier church, and for family friend Paul Eckstein for his heartfelt eulogy at the same ceremony. Comforting words, all.
Thank you for visiting this site. We hope you can offer your story about John, and we appreciate your doing so.

True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic.
It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost,
but the urge to serve others at whatever cost. --Arthur Ashe
